Interfaith Discovery Tour

Welcome to Israel for the Interfaith Israel Experience Tour! We will arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and will be met by a Shalom Journeys representative immediately after passport control.

Our representative will assist us through customs, Covid-19 protocols and outside the terminal to meet our driver.

We will have a short ride to our hotel in the beautiful coastal city of Tel Aviv.

Enjoy the remainder of the day or evening at leisure (depending on flight time arrivals).

Suggested: take a stroll along the beautiful oceanside promenade of Tel Aviv, before a relaxing dinner at our hotel.

Overnight in Tel Aviv

Enjoy a relaxed morning to explore Tel Aviv on your own.

Suggested Morning: stroll along the boardwalk and enjoy Tel Aviv’s bustling Mediterranean beach culture.

Suggested Afternoon: visit the cultural hubs of Tel Aviv — Visit Rabin Square Memorial, the HaBimah Theater Grounds, and the classic Bauhaus architecture of Tel Aviv and Rothschild Blvd.

Overnight in Tel Aviv

Following our delicious breakfast, we will begin our Interfaith Israel Experience tour with a journey along the coastal highway to the ancient Roman capital, Caesarea.

Our tour proceeds to Megiddo, which has been identified as the site of the battle of Armageddon.

The next stop on our tour is Daliat-el-Carmel, a Druze village. Here we will enjoy a late lunch at a local restaurant.

To conclude the day, we will proceed via Mount Carmel to Haifa for a panoramic view of the Haifa Bay and the golden-domed Bahai gardens.

 

Overnight in the Galilee

After our Israeli breakfast, we will take a scenic drive to the mystical city of Safed also known as  the center of Jewish mysticism.

 Our journey continues North to the Golan Heights to see the former Syrian bunkers, located in the city of Kuneitra.

Time for some fun! Our next stop is at the Golan Winery for a tour of the facilities and some wine tasting. To conclude the day, we proceed to “Golan Magic” for a multimedia presentation of the area and its history.


Overnight in the Galilee

Today we begin with a visit to the city of Nazareth. Here we will visit the Church of Annunciation.

Our tour continues towards Tiberias; Our first stop is at Capernaum, home to Jesus, to see the ruins of the synagogue and octagonal Church of St. Peter.

We will take a short drive and visit the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered the sermon on the mount.

To conclude our tour for the day, we proceed via Beit Shean to Beit Alpha to see the remains of the mosaic floor of an ancient synagogue.

 

Overnight Jerusalem

We will start the day with a magnificent panoramic view from the Mount of Olives.

Our tour will proceed to the Old City of Jerusalem. Here we will visit the Tomb of King David and the Room of Last Supper situated atop Mount Zion.

From there we continue forward to enter the walled city and walk through the newly restored Jewish quarter.

Some of the sites include the Roman Cardo, the Herodian quarter, and most notably the Western Wall.

Walk along the Via Delarosa to the Church of Holy Sepulcher.

Our tour concludes with a visit to Bethlehem, the location of Rachel’s tomb, the Church of Nativity and Manger’s Square.

Overnight in Jerusalem

Our tour begins with a drive to the Israel Museum. Here we will visit the Shrine of the Book, where the Dead Sea scrolls are housed.

We will proceed for a tour of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.

Continue to visit Mount Hertzl cemetery and Yad Vashem, the memorial to the Holocaust.

In addition, we will drive through Mea Shearim, the ultra-orthodox neighborhood in Jerusalem. A chance to learn more about their unique lifestyle.

In the evening enjoy dinner followed by the spectacular “Sound & Light” show at the Tower of David Museum.

Overnight in Jerusalem

Driving through the Judean hills we will pass by the Qumran caves, where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered.

As we continue down towards the shores of the Dead Sea, we arrive at Masada, the location of King Herod’s unbreakable fortress. 

We will descend by cable car and continue down to the Dead Sea, considered the lowest point on earth, where many enjoy floating in the unsinkable waters or self-caring by .

Overnight in Jerusalem

Enjoy the calming Sabbath atmosphere of Jerusalem.

Feel free to return to the Old City and tour the Christian Quarter or take the afternoon to visit Jerusalem’s first train station. In the evening discover Jerusalem at night by visiting the Ben Yehuda Pedestrian Mall, the German Colony, or the Russian Compound to start.

Overnight in Jerusalem

Travel south through the Negev desert; stop at Timna, a large geological and archaeological park; marvel at the multi-colored rock formations and copper mines; view Solomon’s Pillars. Continue to Eilat, the southernmost resort city on the shores of the Red Sea; visit the Underwater Observatory Marine Park, built into a coral reef, and enjoy the opportunity for a close-up look at the rich life of the Gulf of Eilat. 

Overnight Eilat

After assistance with border formalities, drive straight to Petra, the astonishing rose-red city built by the Nabateans (An early Arab tribe). Petra is renowned for its massive architecture, pools, dams, and water channels.

The visit begins with the possibility of a short horseback-riding for about 700 mt, until the entrance of the Siq, which is about 1.2 km long (walking distance). Petra is famous for its vast monuments such as the treasury, royal tombs, the court, Roman theatre, Roman street, Qasr al-Bint (Palace of Pharaoh’s daughter), and many other smaller fascinating monuments. The city itself is almost 45km² and is considered to be the second wonder of the world.

After our visit to Petra visit, time for lunch in a nearby restaurant. After lunch, drive back to the border. On the way, a short visit to Aqaba with the possibility to stop and walk around. Transfer to the Israeli border at around 18:00 and cross back to Eilat.

Overnight in Eilat

Depart Eilat via Mitzpe Ramon; stop to gaze into the Ramon crater, a geological wonder.

Proceed to Sde Boker and see Ben Gurion’s hut and grave, which overlooks the magnificent Zin valley.

Visit a Bedouin community, enjoy their hospitality, a camel ride, and a light lunch.

Continue to Hatzerim and visit Israel’s Airforce Museum to view the planes and equipment and to hear the story of this brave fighting force.

Overnight Tel Aviv

Our journey in Israel ends today but the stories and memories we’ve made live on. After an early breakfast, we will check-out and depart for the airport.
